We recently received the following question from one of our rosary makers - Deborah from Columbia, MD

We have a disabled son and are interested in starting a small business with him that might give work to other disabled individuals.  He is autistic. Do you have any information on this or contacts within the businesses that you serve who have similar circumstances or who have started similar business efforts? Any information you might be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You.

Greetings - I think rosary-making is a marvelous business for anyone including those with disabilities. My own business is starting to take off (sometimes it has to find ways around my fumbling efforts and great reluctance to accept money for my rosaries!). Rosaries sell themselves - or perhaps the Blessed Mother selects our customers for us. I began as a jewelry-maker searching to find something to give my non-jewelry-wearing friends. I made one nice rosary for a friend who showed it to several other people who then asked me to make more for their relatives who then asked me to make more for other relatives, etc. I haven't had to do any advertising at all! Quality rosaries are difficult to find in many areas of the country, even in big cities. Special custom-made rosaries are nearly imporssible to find, even at arts and crafts fairs. The Blessed Mother wants us to suggle close to her. Your son can help her reach others with something beautiful to remember her by. So please create a few rosaries to hand out to friends, those in the vocation, etc., and welcome their gratitude and prayers! Just don't be surprised if within a couple of months you are blessed with many orders to fill! (And practice not looking shocked when non-Catholics buy them, too!)

      My prayers are with you!

What stones/beads and metals did you use for this first one your friend? I feel the exact same... want to give my non jewelry wearing friends something very special and great for family members for gifts.

Does anyone know any companies who hire people to make rosaries for them at home?
